history as an example of self-contained residential institutions
that flourished in latter 19th and early 20th century America.
The Jr. Home was a place “associated with events that
have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns
of America’s history.”

EDITH KILGORE (from Lula McGrath)
In talking with Edith Kilgore about a week ago, I found out she is going
through a rough period with her eye sight. The doctor has ruled out
glaucoma and macular degeneration and feels it is caused by diabetes.
She cannot read the newspaper nor drive as little rectangles block a lot of
vision. At this time, doctor cannot medicate and hopes that within a
month the condition will improve itself. Edith's home
telephone number is 419-585-6391
and her address is 403
North St., P.O. Box 286, Republic, OH, 44867.
TED BISHOP (from daughter, Barb Davis)
Hi, This is just a note to let you know about Dad. On his annual fishing trip to Canada with John and grandsons he hurt his leg. He scraped the left shin. He did this on Memorial Day. Wasn't bad until he came home the following Thurs. It was then getting infected. Took him to ER and they started antibiotics. Next day family dr. gave more meds. Sat., June 2 they admitted him to hospital...for IV antibiotics. Been there ever since, Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green. He will most likely be released in a couple of days; however, he has to go for physical therapy at a nursing home and still have IV therapy for 4 weeks. Will let you know when and where. His ankle joint also got an infection, drs. say he just needs walker for this period."
John K. spoke to Ted last evening and I phoned him this evening. While he does have a staff infection, he sounds great, says the swelling is going down, and has less pain. However, now has developed a rash/allergy from the penicillin so is being treated for that plus a change in antibiotics. He will probably be in the hospital a few more days til this is stablized. Then, doctor says he will spend 4 weeks in rehab but Ted says he will snap back in 2 weeks. The hospital phone number is 419-354-8900, Room 249. Ted's home address is 202 Georgia Ave., Bowling Green, OH 43402, and his daughters will be checking on him regularly so can deliver mail to him.

Laura "Corky" Little Chapman
My fellow Homekids,
This is just a short note to let you know Linda, Corky's daughter, and I have been in touch regarding her Mom's health. I felt you would want to know that Corky does have a tumor in her mouth area and the doctor will start a series of radiation/chemo treatments very soon. Linda says Corky is in good spirits and as a true Homekid is going to fight like hell to get well. Knowing how special Corky is, I'm sure you will want to cheer her with a note, card, or phone call and, especially, please keep her in your prayers. Her address is: Laura Chapman, 13914 Lazy Oak Dr., Tampa, FL 33613, Telephone No.: 1-813-972-4114, and E-mail address: corky.h@sbcglobal.net
Linda advised the reason they missed the Orlando Dad Kernan Memorial Luncheon was due to the illness of her sister, Cheri. Cheri was admitted to the hospital with double pneumonia where she remained from January 3rd to the 3lst, fighting for her life, being incubated for 8 days and had a tracheotomy for 3 weeks. Cheri is recovering nicely and feels she will not have to be on oxygen for too long. While God had his hand in her great recovery, just maybe some of that true Homekid "never give up" spirit rubbing off from her Mom helped.
Hopefully, the next Homekid get-together will see Corky, Linda and Cheri present.
Homekid Love, Lula Davison McGrath
